Livingstone Community Centre (LCC) is a ministry of the Ivanhoe Baptist Church and offers affordable short courses,  support programs, the Ivanhoe Makers Market, foodbank, hall hire opportunities plus more, to people within the  community.

The Ivanhoe Baptist Church has been running for over 100 years and in December 1999 the centre was opened for the first time with its first program starting in February 2000.

LCC is a registered Neighbourhood House within the Banyule City Council.

Our centre is a place for friendship, learning and belonging. Our mission statement is that the centre seeks to strengthen community in a safe and positive environment and to nurture the social, intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being of all who participate.

Over time the centre has grown considerably with currently approximately 650 people per week passing through our doors in search of everything from playgroup, choirs and language classes to art, craft, spirituality, health and well-being programs.

The Team

Rev Debbie Campbell

Debbie is the Pastor of the Ivanhoe Baptist Church and President of the Livingstone Community Centre (LCC) Committee of Management. She commenced this role in January 2013. Debbie is committed to the work of the Livingstone Community Centre as it seeks to promote and facilitate friendship, learning and belonging in the local community. She is available by appointment if you would like particular pastoral support or would just like to chat with her.

Rachael Duncan

Rachael is the Chair of the Committee of Management at the Livingstone Community Cente. She has been a member of the Ivanhoe Baptist Church since 2008 and has a professional background in clinical nursing and feminist research. She is really grateful for what is available every day at LCC. The diversity of the programs and the desire to respond to broad community needs is challenging and inspiring. Jim Cramb

As Treasurer, Jim works with the LCC Committee of Management to ensure that the LCC has sufficient funds to conduct its programs and activities. He ensures that all fees, charges and staff payments are fair and reasonable, and looks for opportunities to increase revenue and reduce costs. He prepares regular reports for various meetings.

Susan McLaughlin

Susan has been our Centre Coordinator since January 2007.  She has a general and psychiatric nursing degree and comes with a wealth of knowledge and compassion. She is responsible for program and community development for the LCC and amongst other things coordinates our program, volunteers, foodbank and the Ivanhoe Makers Market. She will be happy to help anyone wanting to enrol in an activity or who just wants some advice on what is available. Please drop by and say hello!

Liz Shearer

Liz is our playgroup coordinator and is also the leader of several playgroups. She coordinates the programs and weekly activities and has been doing this for many years, both with us and in a previous position. Her background and qualification in teaching along with her compassion and understanding of children and families, fosters a great atmosphere and a quality semi structured playgroup.

Cynthia Mott

Cynthia has been attending Ivanhoe Baptist Church since 2002 and since 2013 she generously volunteers at LCC for 3 days a week. She assists the Centre Coordinator and Treasurer with whatever is required. She particularly enjoys the computer and book work plus interacting with all the lovely people she meets and making them smile and laugh.
